| I as a parent have been troubled lately by the poor service offered by our local bus company Arriva. In the past 14 days the bus my daughter catches to and / or from college has not run on at least 5 occasions leaving her stranded with me or the wife left to move her around. Not so bad but she is in possession of a monthly season ticket. She saves 10% by paying up front, makes it nice for arriva too as they make money and fail to provide. Anybody else had any problems before I take my case to Arriva and ask for an explanation

We use the Arriva 98 occasionally to go into town if we are having a drink (so neither of us has to drive). I also used this service extensively over a two week period last year when I was unable to drive due to an injury. In our limited experience the 98 has always turned up but you can't always rely on the timetable. They run every 20 minutes during they day but often are ahead of, or behind, the timetable. Quite often another bus such as a 23 will turn up while we are waiting (I always find that a bonus because it does not stop at the Hop Oast park and ride!) If I use the bus during the day I do not bother using the timetable, I just turn up at the bus stop in the hope that a bus turns up during the next 20 minutes. That's not much help in your daughter's situation so good luck with your complaint. After your result with your Sainsbury's car park ticket I reckon you have a good chance of succeeding! . ps we get a lot of searches on this forum for the local bus timetable. If anyone ends up on this page the links are here:

I used it all through the summer and was disappointed regularly. In previous years it has been on time to the minute so i don’t know what's happened. At first i thought it could be the developments in Southwater but that's obviously not the case anymore... Maybe if we notify them of the problem they’ll take notice.

Having used buses regularly in several parts of the country, I don't think there is a perfect bus service. School buses everywhere often don't turn up on certain routes and the same with public transport. I don't think it's just here.

some days can hop straight on to the 98 bus without any wait at all, over days I find I have to wait 15 longer then I should be.
