There have been a lot of searches on this forum this week for people looking for information about the Horsham Christmas Lights switch on.

Unfortunately this year there will be no 'official' switch on ceremony and certainly no fireworks. (a real shame because the Carfax fireworks used to be a real crowd puller),

There are quite a few Town Centre events planned in the run up to Christmas. I will try and them to the calendar in the next few days. In the mean time the County Times has a good article on its website which summarises most of what is going on:

What! No official switch on? First we lose the fireworks and now the 'switch on'. Not sure why, must be money related

We went tonight. All of the traders were saying how quite it was and I have some photos to prove it. It is a shame because the weather was dry and a lot of shops made an effort. Perhaps it is a bit too soon to do late night shopping without the draw of the turning on off the lights to bring you to town.

By far the biggest search on this site in recent weeks has been for information about the Christmas Lights switch on. I think Horsham Town Centre has missed a real opportunity here.

The Grand Switch On with the Fireworks used to be a real crowd puller and somehow made the Christmas Shopping period 'official'.

If they went back to this and combined the Switch On with the first night of late-night opening I am sure they would make a killing.

Perhaps the lights could be switched on again every Thursday until Christmas
