I understand that there was a public enquiry last week about opening up the missing part of the Downs Link near Christ's Hospital towards Slinfold. Have been trying to find out what happened so far without any luck.

Does anyone know how it turned out and what the next steps are?

Hi Temeraire

Thank you for registering and welcome to the forums.

I too would be very interested to know the outcome of the inquiry.

I cycle that route regularly and I think that the current situation can be quite dangerous.

If you follow the current route at Christ's Hospital you come of the bridleway and join the road network. If you are travelling North, to rejoin the bridleway you have to make a right turn, across the flow of traffic, on a blind bend.

Families cycling in convoy with young children on the Down's Links are suddenly faced with an unexpected and hazardous challenge. If the original route could be restored this problem would be removed.

Interesting user name BTW - anything to do with the Turner painting?

There is an article in the current WSCT about the enquiry. It outlines the history of the route and says that the findings will be publishes in due course - no date
