I was talking to one of our forum members the other day and the subject of the proposed waste incinerator at the old Capel Clockhouse Brickworks site came up. There is an interesting article in this week's West Sussex County Times. Basically the Mole Valley District Councillor (Julian Shersby) suspects that the current work being carried out on the A24 at Capel is unnecessesary and is only being done to increase the chances of a successful planning application on the site. Dancemix (21/11/2005) D'you know, I drove up & down the previously closed bit of the A24 near Capel yesterday, and apart from a bit of resurfacing, I see no change. What did they do?
Your observations give weight to Julian Shersby's suspicions. He suspects the road may have been reinforced to cope with the extra weight of lorries that will be required if the incinerator is built. He also points out the other sections of the A24, which have a far greater need to be updated, have been left untouched.
