| Please excuse the poor quality photograph. I have been impressed with the Hidden Horsham site. It makes you realise how much you take for granted around you. Here is something I spotted in a very familiar place the other day.
My questions are: What is it? What is its purpose? Where is it? and how old is it? I think I know the answer to the first 2 and I obviously know the answer to the 3rd one but its the last one I have no idea of.

| Hello, it looks like a firemark (?) to me - the precursor to fire insurance. Properties would have these on the outside of the building to show that they had paid towards the fire service. As to where and how old I don't know. Mid 18th C I would have thought. I can't recognise the building from the yellow background. Nice one, can you tell me if I am right - and where it is because I don't recognise it! Thanks M
