| We are looking to move to the Horsham area but have had no luck with Horsham itself and are now looking at Southwater. We have two samll children, one boy aged 2 years and 3 months and a daughter aged 10 months. Obviously schools are very important, and have been told by estate agents in Horsham that the schools in Horsham are very good, but we have little or no knowledge of the schools in Southwater. We are also wondering why there is such a price differential between properties in Horsham and Southwater. I am posting this message so we can guage a response from people actually living in the villiage as opposed to those being offered by estate agents etc. I hope you can help and look forward to getting your feedback. Many thanks Elliott

Hello Elliott Thank you for registering and welcome to the Forums. We live very close to Castlewood Primary School and my neighbours with children there seem very happy with it but I can't really comment on the quality of the schools in Southwater as I don't have children myself. Hopefully some other Southwater residents can comment further. I am not sure what the house price differential between Horsham and Southwater is now. I am presuming that you are finding that the type of house you are looking for is cheaper in Southwater? This may be because a lot more houses have been built in Southwater than Horsham in recent years . Also Southwater has historically suffered from a lack of facilities for the number of residents. This situation is currently improving, we have recently had a brand new medical centre built and a new shopping centre has had its first phase of development opened. Personally I like living in Southwater. We are only a five minute drive from Horsham town centre. There are regular buses and the taxi fares have come down in recent years. This is good news for us as we spend most of our social time in Horsham. I have even walked it on several occasions. If like me you enjoy cycling, Southwater is on the Downs Links which gives you great access to a safe , off road cycle route to the North and South Downs. There are other pleasant walks including Southwater Country Park and my favourite walk across the fields through woodland to the Bax Castle, a great pub to take the family for Sunday lunch. Anyway that's enough waffle for me, hopefully you will get some other opinions. Regards

| Hi Elliott, not sure if i haven't already replied to you under another section, but never mind. We moved to Southwater 14 years ago from Thornton Heath, best thing we ever did. 3 children have passed through the Infant School, 1 still at Juniors, can't praise the schools and staff enough. Once you get children at the Playschools etc it's so easy to make friends. And there's plenty of childminders in Southwater should you need one !! Southwater, like most places does have some problems but whre hasn't. Mostly bored teenagers. Can't imagine living anywhere else (at the moment anyway). Best of luck with house hunting etc. Buy the local paper, that should give you a good outlook on what goes on in the district/local area.
