I lived lived in horsham from the age of 9 (am 32 now).  over those years I have seen many clothes shops for men in Horsham close down.  Burtons went a while back, there used to be another who's name now escapes me when i need it as an example!  BHS may be fine for underwear and socks but they don;t seem to cater for all age ranges....the same with Marks and Spencers.   But how many womens wear shops do we have?  New Look, Marks and Spencer, BHS, Dorothy Perkins, Monsoon, Viyella, Bon Marche, to name but a few.  Now i know some of those do menswear, but a very limited range.  I have never seen such a small Next menswear department.

In Horsham, you have to either be 16 years old and like wearing your jeans around your thighs, or retired if you want to buy mens clothes!

I am not a fan of shopping in Crawley and have to travel furthe afield to get a good range of menswear shops to choose from!  If the town centre had more attractive shops for men, then maybe there would be less shopping trips dissapearing from our town to others.

Hello. Thank you for registering and welcome to the forums.

You make a very good point which is quite topical at the moment.

I have recently set up a poll on the Visit Horsham website asking for feedback regarding potential retails outlets opening in Horsham. The results will be used by the Horsham Districts Town Centres Management to assess the potential demand for such businesses.

The current poll is here:

HDC are also interested in any other suggestions for businesses to be added to the poll. If sufficient demand is made for a particular business then the results will be fed back to the relevant people.

To suggest a business either by a specific company or by a generic type (e.g. "menswear") please us the Visit Horsham Contact Form:
