| Is it needed. We are looking into starting bus services from Horsham to Southwater, at cheaper prices than what arriva charge. Large description can not be realised yet, but what does everyone think? Yes or no? Josh

Hi Josh Thank you for registering and welcome to the forums. For me the biggest problem with the Arriva 98 is the lack of a Sunday service. It runs from Horsham to Roffey (and return) but for some reason does not run Horsham to Southwater (or return). ps I have made you website link 'clickable' and, just to let you know, I am having a few problems with the JavaScript menu on both IE7 and Firefox 2.0

Our bus company(If we choose this sector) will operate 7 days a week between; 0700-2130 Mon-Thurs 0700-2300 Fri and Sat 0830-1900 Sun The route would be similar to the route of the 98. Although, it will not go to Foxfeild cottages, instead these customers would have to go to Shipley Corner. Also, (Not quite sure what road it is) the road just prior to the Old Well were the 98 goes, will be missed. Again these customers will have to go to the Bus stop at the Old Well. We are looking at several ways to attract customers to us also. We would like to either get a card system in place. Were you buy buy points through your bank account. etc but this is only an idea on a table of thousands now. With regards to my website, what problems are you experiancing? Josh

It might be worth posting something along these lines in the Southwater section too.

| Interesting thought. I use the Arriva 98 service and occassionally the Metrobus 23 (when the Arriva is late!). The difference between the two services is quite amazing. The Metrobuses are much more comfortable. cleaner and the prices are cheaper. However, their timetable means I can't use for my return journey. The main gripe with both services - the sometimes apalling driving (are buses exempt from speed limits!!!) and, as often with customer serving companies - the lack of pleasantries - a 'good morning' costs nothing. Also, the buses only run hourly after 7pm weekdays. So, a third service? If you think you could do better than the above with time tables, customer services, condition of rolling stock and decent driving, I would use it - even if the price was matched. My only concern would be, could Southwater sustain a third bus service??

| Hey, Thanks for your reply. We take into account all the problems you have with the two current companies. We would hope to provide a service far better than any competition. Forcasted are for 2 bus an hour. Arriving at the first stop in Southwater(Blakes Farm/Southwater Street) on the hour, and half past the hour. As far as price is concerned, we are looking into a Low-Cost bus service. With services from Southwater Shopping Area to the Horsham Bus Station at a rough price of £0.30p one way(Under 15) £0.40p one way(15+), £0.55p return(Under 15) £0.80p return(15+). Another point, we would be very keen on routing the bus down Blakes Farm Road(Inbound to Southwater Only. On Outbound goes via the main road). What do you think on this? We feel if we go to our customers we would be more appealing. So far Rough routing is; Blakes Farm Road(Southbound Layby), Cedar Drive(First layby on left, Just proir to some flats and the Copse) Cedar Drive(Next to the wooded area between Mapledown Close and The Brook) Cedar Drive(Just after Camelot Close) Cripplegate Corner(Cedar Drive Side) Worthing Road/Mill Straight(Next to the Feildings) -Note: No Foxfeild cottages- Worthing Road(Shipley Road Corner) Note: No College Road- Worthing Road(The Old Well/Southwater Shops) Quarry Way Timber Mill(Top, by were it meets with Cedar Drive again) Blakes Farm Road(Northbound Layby) What are your views, anywere you think we should try to get to, and not to? Regards Josh

| I was reading an article recently that said alot of the countryside routes were going to suffer because of some new laws coming into force that was forcing all bus companies to give free travel to OAPs. I don't have the facts to hand , but have you considered this with your new venture?
