| Hello everyone, We are (fingers crossed) moving to Horsham soon and I am looking into primary schools for my son, we appear to fall in between Heron Way and Kingslea. I have managed to find some information on Heron Way, which looks great but as Kingslea is new I cannot find any feedback information. If anyone has any children at Kingslea I would be grateful if you could let me know what the school is like. Thanks in advance for any help.

| Hello JEM, I would certainly recommend Kingslea Primary School. I have one child there in year 2 and I am very happy with his progress and the standard of teaching. Kingslea was born out of the merger of Chesworth Junior School and St. Leonards Infant school. Kingslea opened in september 2006 on the Chesworth site in Kings Road. The infant section of the school (key stage 1) was all built from scratch so is only just over a year old. The junior section was the original Chesworth building but slightly modified. Alot of money has been spent on the school and it has very good facilities ( including its own very large playing field) Mr. Goodall is a very good head teacher who has done alot for the school and is certainly well liked and well respected. My second child starts there in september '08 and I have no worries about sending him there. No doubt if you contact the school they would be happy to show you around. Hope this is some help Andy

My daughter is in year 1 of Heron Way. So far I have been very impressed. The facilities are excellent – a new computer room, plenty of books to go around and outside play activities. You get regular feedback from the school in the way of news letters and regular parent’s evenings. The teachers are very enthusiastic and it seems to be very well run with a very active PTA with a good spread of people from the local community. My daughter joined in the reception class, and got homework from the first week - which I was surprised, but happy about. On the down side the building is looking a bit dated, but I think that is offset by its excellent location away from busy roads and just around the corner from St Leonard’s woods. I did look at St Leonards just before it merged into Kingslea and at that time it seemed to have a high number of special needs children per class (approx 30%) I was not convinced that the school had the right teacher to child ratio to deal with the special needs without impacting the rest of the class, so this was one reason why I ruled it out as my child does not have special needs.

| Thank you both for your informative replies, this is exactly what I was looking for, personal views from parents. I will go and look at both schools in the next couple of weeks.
