Has anyone ever had their pavement swept or the leaves cleared where they live by the council?

If this yet another job that the council has given up on while having the cheek to keep putting up our council tax?

I've guessing I'll have to risk my neck this winter skating down depot road in the wet on all the wet leaves.

Does anyone know the councils policy for this?

I remember when the grass wasn't even cut in alot of places in horsham.

The Causeway gets swept on what seems to be a daily basis. Not sure if that is due to the Horsham stone used, gets very slippery when covered in wet leaves. York stone is used elsewhere...

...but don't get me started on leaf blowers - on a par with patio heaters when it comes to wasting the world's diminishing resources!

I spoke to the council about this (Street Cleaning , 01403 215433)  and they have a rota to keep busy street clear of leaves , but not less well used streets. They said they would come out and clear up leaves if you made a specific request.

I did suggest that most people are happy to clear up outside their own houses but its the hassle of having to take bags of wet leaves to the dump in their car when their recycling bin is full that is the issue.  I asked if the council would supply bags that the council would collect as part of the bi-weekly garden waste collection and the guy said he would look into it.

It is true that you have to request for things to be done but my understanding is that the council may not do anything.

It does get very slippery here were i am too.
