I was reading on the internet that there were up to 3000 Polish troops stationed in the Horsham area during WWII, see quote below. The only other evidence I have found of the Polish presence one war grave at Hills Farm Cemetery: http://www.hiddenhorsham.co.uk/43/hillscemetery.htm#Chojnicki

| By coincidence I got speaking to a lady yesterday at my works xmas do in London and to cut a long story short she informed me how she spent her early years living in the Polish Camp set up in the grounds of Petworth House during WWII. She told me a tail of how her father planted a small Cherry Tree shoot , which can now be found in the grounds as a very mature tree. Not being originally from West Sussex I was not aware of the Polish Camp , but am interested to find out more. Can anyone shed any light on this and possibly share some memories?
