| In the past we have had the likes of Henry Michel, Henry Burstow, Jury Cramp and Stan Parsons to name but a few. These were local characters who brought their influence to bear on our town. Who are there counterparts today? I can think of the late Des Downey who worked so hard for Horsham in Bloom. Also Martin Jeremiah for his relentless work on the local music scene. These are both unpaid roles and that is what I am thinking of. There must be others that I am missing. Who gets your vote and why?

I would nominate our very own TCM - Gary Mortimer-Cook. In the last year Gary has been the driving force behind the Horsham Traders' guild, the Visit Horsham website, the Town Centre 'Summit', the SnapShop awards and many successful Horsham Town Centre events including, most recently, the Italian Market. Don't just take my word for it have a look at the letters page of this weeks West Sussex County Times.
