I noticed yesterday that the Horsham War Memorial has two (admittedly small) placards, bolted to the railings, advertising a turfing company.

I am assuming that this is the turfing company who have provided the turf for the memorial. They have obviously done a good job but speaking as an ex-serviceman with a few ex-colleagues still serving in the gulf today, I think it is extremely disrespectful to use the war memorial as an 'advertising hoarding'.

I would be very interested to hear what other members think of the war memorial being used in this way.

Incidentally, following a chat I had last year with Jean and John Goodyear from the Royal British, I am planning on launching a dedicated web site for the war memorial including all the names on it with the long term aim of adding details for the individuals listed.

Advertising on the war memorial - poor taste in my opinion.

Sounds like quite a web site you'll be creating there - and a worthwhile one. Good luck with that

As you know I have a page dedicated to the war graves in Hills Cemetery. If we can cross link on any individuals then I think that can only benefit those looking up history of these soldiers. Let me know what you think

That sounds like a great idea M.

It would be good to work on a joint project.
