Do you think that it is the same sign? Looks like it has had a coat of paint at the very least!

I have been meaning to post this for a while now. As you can see the Southwater Station sign is back and the bridge has been retained (despite the fact the the road over the top of it is no longer in use):

The road bridge is still in place even though the road itself has been diverted, the cycle path leads under it and through the field. There is a pelican crossing to get across the road, with buttons at a height to suit horse riders.

Is the road bridge staying or will it be taken down?

I picked up a printed version of this from the railway carriage at the old West Grinstead station a couple of years ago. I don’t know if they are still doing them but they where giving them away free even though they had been sold previously.

The printed guide was done as a set of individual maps in a plastic wallet which is quite handy for taking cycling or walking etc.

The new road cuts the old station in half. It looks like that if you come up the Downs Links from Southwater Country Park you will go past Southwater Medical Centre and then have to cross the new road.

On the other side of the road there is just the very end bit of the old platform left now. From there you will hopefully be able to pass under the bridge and continue on the Downs Link as normal.

I saw today that the road bridge over the old railway is no longer in service. How is the Downs Link cycle path going to cross this road now?

I am not sure what happened to the site but It was starting to look a bit beat up. I think the local kids had been using it for target practice!:crazy:

As far as I know It was not the original sign anyway but a replica, so hopefully when they re-open that part of the Downs Link they will put a new one in.

Until just before the building works started there was the old railway sign on the remaining east platform. This had been removed before the barriers went up. Did it get removed for safe keeping or was it stolen?
