Its funny, yes, I was reading that, I was reading about Ann Whale and Sarah Pledge. It's an excellent story, and I know that it took place in Broadbridge Heath as well, and I think it would make a wonderful comic. I'd probably have to embellish it in a few places, but its fascinating. I'll have to research it a bit more.

I don't know if you have seen this great little book but it may just contain a few local stories that may inspire you.

Here are the first three pages from the first issue of Wander. Its a fantasy comic, heavily influenced by folk tales...well, that's the plan anyway. I've got the first issue drawn (called Shoots) but I've yet to get it all printed up.

I draw them on paper and scan them in.
I did digital stuff for ages, but have slowly moved back to traditional methods. There's just something more satisfying about it.
