Did the journey last Friday. 52 minutes to get there and 46 to get back. Plenty of hot water for the shower so fresh ready for work without problems for my co-workers!

Now I need to try again in term time when the roads will be a bit busier

Thanks Dave, I have something like that as a plan b. The perfect route would be a cycle lane next door to the railway line!

Try Wimland Road past Frog & Nightgown then first right across the ridge behind Faygate. Cross the Faygate to Rusper Road onto the bridlepath opposite. Keep going into Bewbush then follow the estate roads as close to the railway as you can into West Green. Haven't done it for a number of years but I remember the surfaces were quite good. PS, you can get to Wimland road on the Old Crawley Road but you will have to cross the 264.

Horsham to Crawley cycle commute

I am looking to cycle to Crawley (near County Mall) one or twice a week. I could go the way I drive, straight up the main road but there is not a lot of provision for bikes. Alternatively I could go out on the road through Roffey onto Colgate. I tried it this morning but the junctions around the M23 / A264 / A23 are not really looking good for cycling - there are steps on the cycle route, not to mention busy roads to cross.

Looking at the map I have found a route through Broadfield off the Crawley Road by Cottesmore Golf Club. This goes through under the A264 then it looks easy enough after that.

Has anyone tried this route or can recommend a better one?
