Incineration is becoming a far greener option and the process is much cleaner these days with the heat and waste being useful by-products.

Recycling is the third best way to reduce the amount of waste we produce. The best way is not to produce it at all. I detest it when I see tomatoes in polystyrene trays covered in cling film - even more so when they are on the vine! Surely that must contravene the trans-shipment of waste directive. Second best way is re-use so take your carrier bags back and re-fill them.

It is a little known fact that Horsham burned waste 100 years ago to generate electricity.

I don't mind where the incinerator goes, just not in my back yard!

Incinerator or Landfill?

So 91% would rather have an incinerator than a landfill! I guess the question was rather closed and maybe other options should be put forward like encouraging more recycling and forcing manufacturers to use less plastic and others packaging.

But would 91% of Horsham really like to see a waste incinerator on the outskirts of the town? Maybe just north of the A264 at Warnham where the current landfill is?

All that extra airborne pollution may give us some lovely sunsets in the summer evenings.....
