Applied Materials in Foundry Lane is to with the loss of 270 jobs according to the WSCT here. Although I never worked there it was a potential employer. It's heritage spans back to H & E Lintotts whose names you can still see on drain covers about the town. Their diverse product range included castings for drains, mini-subs and the ion implant business that went on to become Applied Materials.

Redundancy can be a difficult time and I wish all the best to the employees
