I have just been sent this by a PM.

Do you watch TV or read newspapers ? I don't for two reasons, 1) I hate watching other people getting paid for producing utter rubbish, 2) the newpapers produce mainly more rubbish and then clutter up the house.

The Kleeneze catalogue is usually collected by some dedicated person who has no idea if you had one the other day or not. Further to this, that dedicated person not only delivers that book in an attempt to provide you with a service, but is probably helping a team of other distributors make some extra cash in order to prop up their cash shortage dilema, instead of sponging from the state.

Now what I would like you to think of every time you receive a catalogue, whether you read it or not, by placing it outside, sealed to stop it getting wet, 1) it will not clutter your house, 2)It may help that poor soul earn a bit of extra cash when its delivered again and again, & 3)One day you may need one of those useful products they sell, that you have probably never seen.

Now, lets go back to the telly and think about all the unsolicitored crap that comes out of that. Do you, everytime an advert appears or some bad language, porn or nudity appears in front of your eyes, do you straight away throw the TV in the bin ?

I bet you're a really nice bloke, I only hope the next time a Kleeneze catalogue comes through your door you think about it before throwing it in the bin.

To the person that sent it..

You can't compare the TV and newspapers to Kleeneze because the difference is....

I have the CHOICE whether I turn the TV on or buy a newspaper. I don't have the CHOICE to stop receiving your catalogues.

So I will continue to throw then straight in the bin thank you! :angry:

I am confuzed

Kleeneze man has offered to take me on the road to eazy riches.

I want to find out more about this road so I try to ask his friends.

I find out that he has no friends left.

They got pizzed of with him becoz he try to force them down eazy riches road too.

I saw Kleeneze man has sticker on his car about the road to eazy riches.

He tell me this mean I can make lots of money and no longer have to work in Potassium mine.

I ask him if this is true why can he not afford nice BMW to drive on easy riches road. Instead he drive, as you English say, “clapped out old banger”

He has no answer to this.

One thing does make me happy.

Forum comrade Andy has found card with the number of Kleenze man on back of toilet door.

I have seen these cards before in your town of Brighton.

I like your website but I disagree with you about Kleeneze.

I agree but when I did leave it outside they rarely picked it up when they said they would. Why should I have unsightly mess on my doorstep for days on end?

Also by putting it in the bin they soon get the message that you don't want their catalogues. I have asked politely countless times but unfortunately they usually don't get the message.

I agree in principle and have nothing against (most of) these individuals but unfortunately many of them are getting exploited by those higher up the ~~pyramid~~ chain who make unrealistic claims about the earning potential of Kleenze, not to mention the effort and hours required.

Sorry but you sound far to nice. Would you buy something of a spammer just so you don't upset him?

( I know that they have to pay, from their own money - the Kleeneze broucher) Yes I know too (see my comment about exploitation). This is also why throwing it in the bin is the only way to ensure they don't come back - at least until they realise they are not going to make any money out of Kleeneze, give up, and the next agent comes along - usually only a few week later when I go back to step one (throw it in the bin). :angry:

I do not mind having these brouchers put through my door , my wife usually flicks through it , most often we do not buy anything , if we do not want anything from the broucher we put it outside - it does not take any longer than putting it in the bin - and beside although i agree , these people often do not last long or make a fortune , they are trying , these people are local people trying to make a living , we should not discourage effort , even if we do not think that it is suitable for us .

And what ever you are trying to sell you have to let your prospective customers know about your goods , and this form of selling is not inconvienent , just put the broucher outside and forget about it , these people wont knock on your door and you can rest easy knowing you havnt upset someone who is trying to start thier own buissiness , ( i know that they have to pay, from thier own money - the kleenezze broucher)

M, your bettaware agent should know better than to leave things around that can easily be mistaken for rubbish. The last bettaware catalogue delivered to my place stayed outside the front door for over a week before being relocated to my dustbin.No one ever knocked on the door to complain or ask for it back. Maybe they got bored with the idea......everybody else is!

I have just had my front door replaced and forgot to transfer the ‘Polite Notice’ over. The Kleenze agent didn’t take long to spot this and moved in with their new weapon - the Kleenze Catalogue version 2.0 (the plastic bag now has even more unsolicited rubbish in it )

Fortunately I also have a large skip on my drive :satisfied:

Hi there

When my twin daughters were first born (1998) I did Avon for about 2 years as the commision meant my wife could use that to buy her makeup etc....

I lost a few catalogues but accepted that this is the price you have to pay, however if the house said no door to door sales peeps then I never left a catalogue as to me it suggested that this person probably didn't want unexpected callers. Also when it came to collecting the catalogues which had not been left out I would call between 6 and 7 in the evening as this is when most peeps would be in and I could also find out if they were interested or not.

I worked and still do night shifts and this also meant that I would not wake them up as I know what it is like to be so.

I think that the organisers need to take more responsibility in educating some of their distributers on what to do other than 'shove thousands of catalogues through endless doors'

I really enjoyed my time doing this and met some very interesting people and am happy to say I only got called a name once but I think my using my instinct on which houses to post through may have something to do with that.

How desperate can these people get? I recently found a business card for a "home catalogue delivery opportunity" stuck to the back of a toilet door in Pease Pottage Services. Surely this must be utter desperation for people to stoop so low in the quest to recruit a new "agent". The business in question was I think the one begining with "K", they didn't give the name on the card but a bit of investigation on the internet has linked the phone number to them. Where will these people look to next for "business" (OK, cheap toilet joke!):)

I was told that Betterware supposedly aren't supposed to have more than one agent in any given area but apparently with Kleenze they don't care if they poach each others territories.

You are right about some of these agents being exploited. I almost feel sorry for them. These claims like "be financially independent in 5 years" are a joke. You sure aren't going to do by just delivering catalogues.

The only way they are going to make big money is by recruiting lots of other people into the company. If every body tries to recruit other people they are soon going to run out of people to recruit. (Even after all your friends, neighbours and family have been milked)

So no matter what they call like to call it, these companies have a pyramid like structure. Only the ones at the top will get rich (at the expense of the others and much to the inconvenience of people like you and me).

ps I haven't had any catalogues for a while. My Victor Meldrew style rants must be working. For now................

Where I live in north Horsham, we now have 2 kleeneze and 2 betterware agents doing their stuff. The latest kleeneze catalogue came through the letterbox last Thursday to be collected on Monday (a good 4 days out on my door step, what a pain!) I have had 2 betterware catalogues from 2 different agents at the same time in the last few weeks. This shows that there cannot be any area management and it's just a free for all and a money making exercise by the people at the top of the tree. What is happening at the bottom of the tree they really don't care about, they just exploit it.:crazy:

none of these sites promise 'get rich quick' schemes. you have to put the effort in first just like any other business. having said that... to be financially independent in 5 years compared to a 40 year long employment (if you're lucky) sounds pretty fast to me. betterware and avon have little affect on our sales to be honest. you make excuses or you make money in Kleeneze its as black and white as that. we have spent 4 years building our customer base and our team and we have worked extremely hard, as have all the successful Kleeneze business leaders. we don't make any money from the recruiting process and not enough from the ones that start and quit quickly to make a difference. our income is based on helping others to build their businesses. its like anything in life... e.g. losing weight and joining a gym... most quit in the first few months. because it is a different concept to 'a job' some people are unable to self motivate themselves.

also we could do it in any area of the country whether other agents are present or not, we don't live in a lucky area, we have had good pickups and bad ones but it all averages itself out eventually.

whether a scheme similar to telephone or mail preference could be introduced... i don't know, perhaps it could, i'm not really qualified to say, its probably an issue for the DSA. I just love my business and its the best thing i've ever been involved in so naturally i sing its praises...

Therefore 80% of people do not buy from your catalogues. So by your own admission the vast majority of people are not interested in buying from your catalogues.

Even if 50% do 'browse' the other half have absolutely no interest in your catalogues whatsoever and you are inconveniencing them unnecessarily.

I am certain that the agents in my area are not earning anything like the figures you quote. If they did why would they continually quit after only a couple of months?

Perhaps you prefer to call it a Multi Level Marketing Scheme or something similar. Type 'Kleeneze' into Google and you will find literally hundreds of web sites similar to yours all promising to make you get rich quick. Look at some of these titles:

None of these websites sell Kleeneze products do they? It is all about recruiting people into Kleeneze. Believe it or not I do have some sympathy for these 'recruits'. I know they are only trying to make a honest living. You may be lucky and have an area where you have a good customer base and can make a living out of Kleeneze. Where I live we are saturated with agents, remember it is not just Kleeneze there is Betterware, Avon etc. As I said I started off playing the game and leaving the catalogues out, but when you are swamped with them and your requests for them to stop are ignored the novelty soon wears off. I know that there are plenty of others in my area who feel the same way. So it's no surprise to me that new agents get fed up when, having shelled out for a load of catalogues, 'Victor Meldrews' like me throw them in the bin. Unfortunately I have found that binning them the best way to ensure that you don't get another one. At least until the next agent comes along in a couple of months time.:crying:

If Kleeneze and the other catalogue companies wanted to improve their public image they could use a voluntary preference scheme. The way the TPS and MPS work is that a central database holds the names of people who do not wish to receive unsolicited telephone calls or mail. Companies wishing to send out mailshots or make cold calls must first check with these database that the people they wish to contact have not opted out. It would not be difficult and would not be illegal to set up such a scheme for catalogues.

like i said... about a half browse our catalogues which isn't the very very small numbers that you mentioned. indeed more would end up as customers but we don't deliver again if they haven't ordered after 5 or 6 visits.

we also make extremely good income from the catalogue side of the business (roughly about £1500 a month). the rest of our income (about another £1000) is a bonus payment from Kleeneze for our team development. so its certainly not true that we earn a pittance from just retailing. but yes its true many people do quit before realising the massive potential of the business they are in. home shopping is the fastest growing trend in the retail sector right now.

we earn more than the person who brought us into the business and will soon earn more than their sponsor. therefore a 'pyramid' association is also wrong. pyramid schemes were made illegal years ago. what you put in to the business is what you get out irrespective of the length of time you have been in or how high up the chain you are.

we are all self employed which is why there is no central register of who really doesn't want a catalogue. it would also be illegal to pass on peoples preferences via a database to other distributors.

i cannot speak for other distributors but it is certainly not our intention to wind people up and we, personally, always respect peoples wishes.

The question I asked at the start of this thread is "how many times do you have to tell these people you do not want their catalogues?"

That is the problem. I should not have to have a sticker on my door. I should not have to leave unwanted catalogues on my door step. Thanks to the mailing preference and telephone preference schemes I have stopped unwanted junk mail and telephone calls. Why can't I permanently stop unwanted catalogues. I work nights. Your activities disturb my sleep.

The main problem is the agents only last a few months at best and any request to stop the catalogues is not passed on to the next agent.

Having read the above I think you must be very lucky to achieve such few catalogues losses and such a high percentage of customers. Even so, by your own admission the vast majority are not interested in purchasing from your catalogues

It seems the root of the problem is that it is very hard to make money from selling products alone. The people making the money are those higher up the chain (pyramid?). These people earn money recruiting more agents etc. Those at the bottom soon get fed up and move on.

Why can you not have your own national register similar to the mailing preference / telephone preference schemes?

I should only have to tell you once I do not want your catalogues.

a very small percentage of our catalogues end up in the bin - perhaps in a new area we would lose 1 or 2 in 200 to the Victor Meldrew society :). people are generally polite and leave them out. we have about 2000 regular customers who rely on our catalogues, interestingly most of our best customers have those grey no door to door sales type signs up but they never consider them as applying to us, more to people who try to sell things at the door like gas, double glazing etc.

oh and the very small percentage who 'take the bait' is about a half who browse the catalogues and about 20% who eventually end up as customers.

i would never demand a catalogue back, in fact we personally never knock, we just put a slip through. of course there is always the occasional exception and i think a sign like "no catalogues or circulars" would indeed be more appropriate for you all.

Nice on one Brains. I wonder what percentage of Kleeneze, Betterware catalogues end up in the bin.

I once asked a Kleeneze agent why Kleeneze puts unsolicited catalogues through peoples doors and then DEMAND them back from uninterested people. Her answer was that "that's how we find our customers"

To me these people are no better than spammers. Spam works in a similar way, you sent out millions of unsolicited messages knowing that a very small minority will take the bait. Unfortunately these few people that reply (or buy Kleeneze or Betterware products) make it worth doing. EVEN IF IT DOES INCONVENIENCE THE VAST MAJORITY OF PEOPLE THAT DON'T WANT SPAM (OR KLEENEZE OR BETTERWARE PRODUCTS)

Bleeding catalogues. Ours go in the bin as well when they come through the letter box. And when they come to collect, the agent is more considerate by posting a note through the door saying they came to collect it but it wasn't there. This note also goes in the bin.

I'ts one that BT supplied when they were trying to promote their "Privacy at home" service.

It just says "Door To Door Sales - Please Don't Ring" with a big red no entry sign in the middle!

It seems to have deterred everybody except Kleeneze and Betterware.

Would you believe a different woman came round yesterday asking for her catalogue back. You know the catalogue that I instantly returned to the guy that delivered it last week with the strict instructions not to call again as I work nightshifts. :sick::sick::sick::sick:

I had another unsolicited Kleeneze catalogue through my door today.:angry:

Firstly don't get me wrong, I understand these people are only trying to make a living, but I am really opposed to their tactic of putting an unsolicited catalogue though your door and then constantly harassing you to give it back.

The first few time this happened I played the game and left them on the doormat. Invariably the agent would not collect them when they said. I don't like them cluttering the door mat so I would take them back in. I work nights and more often than not the agent would come back when I am sleeping in the day and bang on the door waking me up. I have explained to the agents that I don't want then and they have said that they will cross me off the list. Normally a month or so later another catalogue arrives and I go through the same cycle. The agent's usual response is "sorry I am new and I didn't know you didn't want one".

I have got so fed up with this cycle that now they go straight in the bin. Quite often the agents get upset or even aggressive over this ranting "I have paid for that catalogue, it is my property you have to give it back etc." I have little sympathy. I have a prominent, polite notice on my door asking cold callers not to call and I have told them countless times in the last 10 years or so that I don't want these catalogues.

The annoying thing is that nowadays you can prevent unsolicited mail and phone calls by registering with the Mailing and Telephones preference services but there is little you can to stop these catalogues.
