I am new to this forum and to Horsham!

I am from Guildford originally and have been in Horsham for a while now but am having trouble finding new friends here!

Any ideas?

By the way I dont drink so no pubbing and clubbing for me.

I am 30 years old so am not going to play at the park with a skateboard either, people have said to join something local but where to turn is beyond me.;)

Shuttle bus services to Broadland Business Campus from local stations

Hi - I am thinking of accepting an interview for a job in the campus but still cannot find any info re this on the website. Do you have any further info regarding shuttle bus services from stations - I could well be coming from Gatwick, Crawley or Horsham. I have seen Warnham station but thee services are not very frequent.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Station to Broadland Business Campus

Hi All:

I have recently joined an office in the broadlands business campus in Horsham. I have heard that there are commuting shuttle buses from the station to broadlands business campus but I do not know details like timings in the morning and in the afternoon and if the buses are dedicated office services. How do I get to know about them (as I could not find anything on the web). I think there is currently no bus service from station to the office populated area (broadlands business campus), but if there is any could you please help me on that, as well.

I am also thinking of moving to Horsham soon along with my family and my 3-year old daughter. Since she would require childminder and occasional pre-school session, can you also help me with some information, please.

I've recently moved to Horsham from South London with my wife and daughter. Absolutely loving life here so far (despite having a longer journey into work) and not missing anything about London in the slightest!

Hi all

I moved to Horsham from Dorking in Jan 08, but am originally from North Wales. I don't know anyone in Horsham and I'm finding it hard to meet local people.

I've recently gotten into photography and have created a group on Flickr to try and get some occasional meets arranged. I'm also trying to summon up the courage to go to the 20-40s walking group on Sundays if anyone is interested.

I'm 37 and live in the Hills Farm Lane area.

I don't know if I can post a link to the Flickr group on here?

haveing lived in leicester and co durham for the best part of my life, due to problems in my life i came to horsham in late nov 97....

i did move to crawley for a bit but hated it,theres something about horsham that i love the place as a good feel to it,and there are a good standed of people in horsham that i like...crawley was not a nice place...tho the soon to be x wife live s over there she loves it:hehe:

Hey there, everyone out there! even though I'm now living in Dorset, I used to live in Horsham and thought it would be a good idea to join here and see if anything's changed. I moved in 1999, and still remember quite a lot of stuff in Horsham. I come up occasionally to see my family, and have a walk around the town and that, It most of it looks just like I remember it. I'm seventeen, so some of my earlier memories of Horsham are a little blurry, but I still remember the schools and the town prety well.

My name is Peter Head, Horsham born and bred and the wrong end of 60.:) I am a total cricket nut, having played at Roffey and Broadbridge Heath. I am also a committed Italophile.

For anyone here whose memory is long enough, my paternal grandfather founded the fruiterer, greengrocer and fishmonger business (Wm Head & Sons), with the shop originally in the old Albion Way before moving down to the bottom end of West Street, only to have to close down with the redevelopment there. Wilkinsons are now on that site. All Grandad's children worked at the shop but none of my generation - my cousins, my brother or me - did. It was a shame that we had to close; for one thing there has never been a decent wet-fish shop in the town since!!

Hello everyone, just thought i would introduce my self and say how pleased i am to have found this site whilst browsing.

I am an old girl , born in Horsham, lived in Roffey until my marriage to local boy, who i might add is still my man after 53 years. A lot of my family still live in the area. Sadly i am not able to see them so often, although we keep in touch.

I have written over the years a brief resume of my life since my birth, for my Sons so that they may understand about their parents in later years.

Also I have been trying to piece together my Family tree, sadly the elderly relatives i once could have asked for details are no longer with us.

Lastly joy that the Fish & chip shop in Colletts alley still exists i can smell them now.

I look forward to participating in this forum.

Well hello there. I'm moving to Horsham from Essex in about a month's time so I'm on here to find out what it's all about!

I don't know much about the area at all, my fiance is moving from Crawley so he is a bit more clued up than me.

We decided to settle in Horsham after a few days out here made us completely fall in love with the area. I can't wait to move :)

I'd love to hear any recommendations for places to visit/ eat/ drink etc. I'm a complete book fiend, so will be checking out the library asap. I also have Chronic Fatigue syndrome so some of my more 'energetic' hobbies have to be curtailed!

So... what are Horsham's Best Bits?!

I have a lovely 5 month old spaniel x puppy who is attending gun dog training in Petworth but apart from that she does not meet any other dogs

She is obedient and comes back on walks but loves the company of other dogs

If there are any other ladies who have a friendly dog (dog or bitch) and would like company on walks during the week please contact me.

I am a married lady with two grown up daughters and 4 grandchildren.

We are in a rural location near Barns Green but willing to travel to Southwater, Horsham or Billingshurst or alternatively, plenty of country round here to roam around.

just registered today after finding your brill site. at the moment i am living in crawley but i am horsham born and bred. i want to come home to my birthplace but i am finding it very hard as no-one seems to want to move to where i am. can't say i blame them though. horsham has that certain something that always bring people back and keeps them! if anyone can come up with ways to help me by all means get in touch. i am in housing accomodation in a 2 bed terr. on the very outskirts of ifield west if that helps. i love horsham and my mother's family lived there also for many generations. my great grandfather was a maple and it was said that he started maple, waring and gillows, the furniture store. i would be grateful if anyone can confirm this.

Horsham Arun Badminton Club

As one of the largest badminton clubs in Sussex and with a history dating back to 1926, Horsham Arun and its members play an influential part in the development of badminton throughout the county.

The club is located within Broadbridge Heath Leisure Centre, Wickhurst Lane (see map). We have three high quality, dedicated courts with changing rooms and showers. We also have a clubroom and bar area that overlooks the courts.

Horsham Arun has mixed, mens and ladies teams in four of the locally run leagues in Sussex and Surrey. The club is also the home playing venue for the Sussex Veteran's badminton teams who play inter county matches on some weekends throughout the season. Horsham Arun will also play host to a number of matches for the Senior county squad.

Chinchilla Zilla are a four-piece band playing alternative cover songs from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s through to the present day. The band is made up of: a drummer, bass player, guitarist and lead vocalist; all members of the band share the vocal harmonies. They are an experienced group of musicians who have gained their individual experiences in various bands, playing a diverse range of music, spanning a period of 20 years.

The next walk in Southwater is 12th January 11.00am from Southwater Country Park. Please come and join me and take a positive step to keeping fit and active longer. The moment you take up any kind of physical activity, you reduce the risk of getting a number of cancers. It will help your mental health, and walking can help with difficulty with sleeping.

Health walk in Southwater

Hello everyone

There is a fortnightly health walk from the Country Park on a friday. the next one starts at 11.am on Friday 22nd December. We are a very friendly group, we walk for about an hour and we talk too and then maybe have a coffee in the cafe afterwards. EVERYONE is most welcome, there are no hills (well one slight one) and definitely no stiles, and somewhere to sit down on the way back.

I have been leading this walk for a year now, and am beginning to feel a bit lonely as we do not have a lot of participants from Southwater. Please make my day and join us on 22nd. Make some room for your christmas pudding by doing some physical activity.

By taking part in any physical activity we immediately reduce the risk of getting heart disease, certain cancers, and activity helps with blood pressure, diabetes and promotes good sleeping patterns.

Intro and Chesworth Farm

Hi, I am Laura and have lived in Horsham for 26 years. I am not naturally a high-profile person but the topic of Chesworth Farm, close to where we are lucky enough to live, and where we frequently walk our dog, brings out my campaigning side! The Forum read my recent letter in the WSCT/Horsham Today about an issue there and I am taking up the offer to publicise it further here as the [b]deadline for formal comment is Monday 11 December.[/b]

If you visit the farm (accessed from Southwater, Kerves Lane, Queensway or Athelstan Way) whether to walk, cycle, horseride or walk dogs - and enjoy its understated natural environment - you may be aware that the Horsham District Council Leisure department, responsible for the farm's management, has been drafting a five-year Draft Management Plan for the farm over the past few months.

We (that is my family and other neighbours and farm users) wish to preserve its current character for this and future generations as a wildlife resource, on the town's doorstep that, with its agricultural history, complements Warnham Nature Reserve and Southwater Country Park.As an introduction, this is what I said about it my letter in the November 24 issue of the WSCT:

"I would like to take this opportunity to remind readers that the Chesworth Farm Draft Management Plan is now available, as featured in The West Sussex County Times of 10 November. It is available to read and download for a brief consultation period at www.horsham.gov.uk.

"Almost the entire draft plan is concerned with admirable projects that will fulfil the published aim for the farm as a 'quiet area for wildlife conservation and informal recreation'.

"But surely running totally counter to this is the proposal, also in the plan, to place up to three youth football pitches on the Jenny Bare Legs meadow (the first meadow on the left at the Queensway entrance)?

"Join us in recording your objections to this impractical and destructive idea, whether on grounds of access, suitability, need, environment, conservation, maintenance of strategic gap and so on.

"Even if you wrote letters of objection in the summer (and thank you if you did) please make your thoughts known again at this critical time. You really could make a difference.

"Please act now as you have until Monday 11 December to send your views and comments to the Countryside Services Unit, Horsham District Council, Park House, North Street, Horsham RH12 1RL or email leisure@horsham.gov.uk.
