| searching for any information regarding Frederick Adkin he had a son William Frederick who married Fanny Voice their son Alexander William was my grandfather, residence was Causeway Southwater Horsham. I have managed to trace Fanny Voice and her relatives but have drawn a blank with the Adkin side of the family. My grandfather never knew his family due to him being moved to Nottingham when he was a child after his father died in 1899, we had many interesting conversations as i was growing up, he was a good family man who had many hobbies, shoemaking, gardening and carpentry strangely these trades are in his ancestry but he never knew. I intend to visit southwater next year to tread in my ancestors path so any information no matter how trivial would be so gratefully received. Regards....

Hello earthangel Thanks for registering and welcome to the forums I think it would be a good idea to start an Ancestry / Genealogy section on this forum as it could be useful to people like yourself trying to trace ancestors in the Horsham and Southwater areas. I will leave your post in the Southwater Chat section for a while and then I will set up the Ancestry section. (so if you come back and your post is missing from the Southwater section have a look in the new Ancestry section) Good luck with you search

| Hello Earthangel, you mention 'Causeway Southwater Horsham' as an address. The Causeway is in Horsham, not aware of a road of that name in Southwater. It is the road towards Southwater between the old Town Hall and St Mary's (the main C of E church in Horsham). It has long since been replaced by the parallel Worthing Road Feel free to come back if you need further help M

I know Bonfire Hill. It is quite a steep and windy road; tough to cycle up & scary to cycle down unless you use your brakes. A few old properties still remain in place

| thanks for looking at my message. I have just found information that has returned my enquiry back to nottinghamshire for frederick adkin seems he used his deceased fathers forename just to add a little guess work but the census has found matches leading to his identity. my greatgrandmother fanny adkin maiden name of Voice, daughter of john voice and sarah hurst is from horsham with a family tree back to 1400s. hope other people use this message service as it can be useful trying to piece together family history.Regards and thankyou once again.
