I have been hearing a lot lately about the plans to pedestrianise East Street to allow "Al Fresco" dining etc.

I am personally not 100% convinced this is a good idea. My wife and I eat out a lot in Horsham (at least once a week). I think East Street is already a good environment for diners. The recently refurbished Tortellini's is a good example of this. It was very quite immediately after the work was finished but word has spread and it is now packed on weekend evenings. The other restaurants are equally pleasant and equally busy. Does it really need improving? I am not sure. I am all for new dinning areas in Horsham but I think the Forum would probably be better area to develop.

What also bothers me is the fact that the cycle lane may be removed. I and many other cyclists use this regularly. When I cycle from Southwater to Horsham via Peddlars Way and Denne Road it is my main route into town. In these environmentally aware time surely we should be trying to improve facilities for cyclists not removing them.

Yep im in agreement with this as well, particuarly as i have a new baby so am always struggling to get the pram aroound on the tiny pavements in that neck of the woods, especially on a saturday when its proper hectic.

Beside it would make the place abit more cosmopolitan innit.
