This week's County Times has a front page story about a proposed new town centre hotel for Horsham.

Plans have been submitted for a 67 room Travelodge to be built by converting the existing Exchange House building [next to the bus station].

This is likely to be a much more popular location than the recent, highly controversial, 'hotel in the park' scheme (although I think these two proposals are aimed at different markets).

Whatever the outcome I for one am pleased that a Horsham town centre hotel is still on the agenda. It is something that Horsham desperately needs.

My first thoughts are in favour of this development. Not sure where all of the cars will park but I think it will be good for the town.

There is also an application to turn Springfield House into a hotel.

LOL it looks like hotels are this year's mobile phone shops

Still in all seriousness this is something that's long overdue,

why is it long overdue? I hate tourists

Shadow Wolf will personally disembowel with teaspoon the next person to mention HFC (provided said teaspoon is not needed for stirring said wolf's Earl Grey tea)

I think this type of hotel is more likely to attract business users who need direct access to the town centre rather than having to come from the Station.

The town does need an alternative to the station hotel to bring in a bit of competition.

Nothing to do with tourists per se..

Several times in the last few years I have tried to accommodate large groups of people in Horsham, both for business and personal reasons. Each time I have had to place people outside Horsham due to lack of accommodation in Horsham.

The lack of Hotel accommodation in Horsham is not good for our local economy and contributes to many  of our 'local' business closing. It also makes Horsham less attractive to businesses which is why we have currently have so much office space empty, again having  consequences for the Horsham economy.

suits me the way things are, I'm not a fan of business men either (no offence to anyone here)
