As someone who (nearly) always has a camera with me I was interested to read the article linked below on the BBC. It would seem that the police and others are getting a bit sensitive about those of us who stop and take pictures whenever we spot a potential image.

I will carry on regardless whilst observing the sensitivities of pointing the camera at other peoples children. What do you think?

Innocent photographer or terrorist?

I agree with you fully, it's rediculous, however as a nature and architectural photographer I rarely photograph people and then only ever people I have known for years, I say we create a petition, who's with me?

It’s definitely a problem. I have also heard cases of people being told that they cannot take pictures of their OWN children at certain public events. It’s a sad reflection of attitudes today if a parent with a camera in a public is instantly viewed with suspicion.

It could be worth a no 10 petition. I am sure if you posted a suitable statement of some of the many photographic forums you would get a good response.

ah, when I said "we" I was kinda hoping someone else would do it... I'm a busy guy and I know no photography forums, Horshamite is photographer oriented enough for me... and I'm sure you would have the support of both Horshamite and TresCom forums...

My son's primary school went through this routine for a couple of years before relaxing. I think it can be sufficiently 'policed' by parents who would be able to spot strangers on Sports Days , etc. Not so easy at secondary schools where the 'school line' at best is a row of parked cars and the parents don't get to recognise each other

I'm afraid this petition says that it is a petition to clarify the laws, not quite our aim, our aim is to prevent a law... which would mean a new petition...
