| I prefer the Hen and Chicken but I have heard that the Cock Inn has, or is about to, change owners/management. Is this true? T.

| Yeah the management changed about 2 weeks ago. The new owners seem to be aiming to turn the cock inn to a restaurant (they've taken away the pool table and games machine) as meals are served all night. This does make sense as the owners are notorious for their food as they own the Red Lion in Slinfold, but they've chosen the wrong pub IMO as i don't know any locals who go there to eat! I'm especially annoyed about them taking the pool table away, i don't see the reasoning behind that. Being the Cock Inn's pool team captain i had to withdraw our team from the league! Oh well, at least they're redecorating it which is a plus but we'll have to see...

Hi RoyalPoker thank you for registering.
We tend to use the Hen & Chicken the most, mainly because we live at that end of the village. We will probably try out the Cock Inn for a meal soon. It will be good to have somewhere else to eat if the food is all its cracked up to be. Shame about your pool table though. I used to enjoy playing pool myself in my younger days. I last played on the table in the Cock Inn about 10 years ago. Do you know anything about the supposed new pub/restaurant that might be built on the new development? If it goes ahead maybe it will have a pool table?

Hen and Chicken wins my vote - for the worst pub lunch I've ever had. About a year ago, 'Surf & Turf' for £9.95 - 3oz steak and THREE small bits of scampi (plus a few bread crumb balls) - I'm not exaggerating, absolute daylight robbery. Funny thing was, a regular (or someone who appeared to know the staff) ordered the same just after me and got a plate full of scampi. I won't set foot in the place again (or at least until it is under new management)
