Hello!

Nice to see you to see you ______!!! In fact its nice to see that the Crown pub in the Carfax has been refurbished. However I don't think the outside covered smoking area is ever going to work. All the smoke blows back into the pub and affects the diners. I was under the understanding that a covered smoking area had to be exposed on all sides. Might be wrong there though.

The most shocking thing are some of the prices for drinks. Corona Extra £3.05 a bottle!!!! I made the mistake of buying a round, and now I'm so broke my girlfriend is going to have to go on the game.

Two pints of Foster's and a Corona Extra - £8.65. "How Much!!!! - I want to buy three drinks not the pub." Its the kind of thing my dad would say, never thought I'd say it.

Hope all is well!

Hooligan

I noticed it from the outside yesterday.  It looks much better and not at all seedy any more.  A shame that alleyway will smell more now, but they've got to smoke somewhere.

I haven't experienced the smoking area or its impact on diners but the balony addition has been well done, and overall the pub looks a treat.

Even now in winter the door is repeatedly left open so all the smoke (and cold air) blows back through the pub. I actually shut the door myself one time, only for one of the smokers to open it again in defiance. There's a few of the old clientele creeping back in there now and it’s not such a pleasant place to go as when it first opened.

Oh yeah - £3.85 for a pint of Peroni, absolutely outrageous!

And another thing...

The food is very average considering that prices are on the high side for a pub. I think sending out a salad with lettuce going brown at the edges says a lot about the care and attention to detail in the kitchen.

Oh yeah - and not clearing plates for about half an hour (worse than Wetherspoons!)
