| Horsham community responders are looking to recruit Horsham’s community responders, who work with South East Coast Ambulance Service, are holding a big recruitment drive in Horsham’s Carfax shopping centre this weekend. Members of the seven-strong team will be at the shopping centre from 8am until 6pm on Saturday, 22 September.
They are looking to recruit people in and around the Horsham and Southwater area who wish to become community responders. Community responders are members of the local community who are trained to work alongside the ambulance service, attending life threatening calls in their area. They often arrive before the ambulance clinicians, offering life-saving treatment to patients. Tim Freeman, scheme co-ordinator, said: “The Horsham and Southwater community responders have been going since the beginning of June and we have already attended more than 200 incidents. We are currently looking for local people or businesses wishing to support the scheme and our work in the local community. “If you are interested in supporting community responders or becoming one yourself, come along on Saturday and meet the team. You can even try out your resuscitation skills on a training dummy and use a training defibrillator. www.horshamresponders.org.uk
