Hi,

I am looking to move to Horsham with my girlfriend and hoping to avoid the exorbitant fees that Letting Agents charge.

Would anybody be able to tell me the best places to find the details of any private lettings?

Which are the best newspapers to look at and on what days?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Thanks,

Dan

Hello

Thank you for registering and welcome to the forums.

The local paper is the West Sussex County times and they have a property section that includes rentals. A online version is here:

I think that you will find that the 'buy to let' market is pretty saturated so it makes it a buyers market for those wanting to rent. The agencies around here a all credible and I'll bet you can negotiate for fees below their card tariffs

I forgot to add that the West Sussex County Times is published on a Friday.

Also regarding the letting agents fees as I though they were payable by the VENDOR. Although I guess vendors may try and pass them on to their tenants in the form of higher rents.

Thank you both for your help.

In the end we have decided to stump up the fee and reserve the property. It was just too nice to turn down and having compared the Estate Agent (Courtney Green) to others it seems that they are quite reasonable. The hassle of having the property hunt over with is worth a significant amount to us.

So the good news is that we are moving to Horsham in a few weeks and are both very excited. The other half can't believe how clean the streets are and seems to be more interested in that than anything else.

Expect more questions coming your way!

Thanks again,

Dan
