From Garry, Town Centres Manager We are now up to 13 stalls (list below) and all appears to be going well BUT this market will ony survive if it attracts sufficient customers over the longer term. Additional promotional banners are going up this week. The Tuesday Southwater market is now in its 5th week and we can trade for 13 weeks before we need Planning Permission. This will be sought if there is sufficient demand. Please let me have your views on what you like about it, what you don't like, and any type of additional stalls you would like to see in the future?
Thank you TCM By the way, it is held on a Tuesday as this was the day that most Traders were free and willing to try a new unknown location. It also was hoped to have the effect of pulling additional people into the Square mid-week and thereby increasing business opportunities for the shops. Southwater Market Traders (scheduled to attend from 20th June) 1. Rock Farm - Vegetables and some fruit.2. Slindon Bakery - Regular and Speciality Breads and cakes. 3. Forget-me-not Plants - Bedding and cottage garden plants. 4. Karen Taylor Plants - Shrubs and climbing plants. 5. Downs Link Veterinary Surgery - Pet food, Free range eggs. 6. SussexWay Meats - Organic Lamb, Pork, Beef. 7. Olives and Things - Marinated olives and similar. 8. Ruckmans Limited - Beef, Lamb. 9. Ranfold Farm Nurseries - Turkey Sausages, Burgers. 10. Hempstead Foods - Meat pies, pasties, tarts & quiches. 11. Flax Farm - Linseed and linseed products. 12. Grimsby Fish - Fish. 13. Marie Downard - Herbs, Flavoured cooking oils.

| I live in Barns Green and I didn't know it was on - how about some posters round here ? Also do you have to pay to have a stall ?

| Stalls cost £15 per session. Ideally products should be locally made or sourced (40 miles) although this might be stretched if the stall is felt to be incontext with a 'village market'. I am looking into producing posters for display in neighbouring parishes - thanks for the suggestion. PS: Sorry for delay in reply

It sounds great, I wish I didn't have to work otherwise I would go to it. It's good to help out local businesses.

After a short break the Southwater village and produce market is scheduled to resume on Tuesday 16th January from 9:00am. It was doing very well up to Christmas and with the extra footfall generated by Co-op's opening we hope it will do even better in 2007. Any feedback greatfully received.

I'm pretty sure you may have received my email via Horsham D C website about this market. Would love to support it more. A great deal of the village work during the time the market is on. Have suggested that perhaps an evening stint might be welcomed and supported - subject to suitable advertising. The reply I received was that "someone" would have to talk to the traders to see if they might consider it. It might be an idea to count how many people, via the cctv, visit the Co-op in the evening after 6.00 pm.

An evening market was tried recently and was publicised through the Southwater Parish Newsletter and County Times. Turnout was poor of both traders and customers so will have to think again on this one.
