Sheila Dale has retained this seat for the Lib Dems with the Conservatives not too far behind. Third place, but in the distance were BNP beating Labour et al. Full results from the County Times:

Sheila Denise Dale (Liberal Democrat) - 550
Jacqueline Margaret Cox (Conservative) – 456
Richard James Trower (British National Party) - 171
Antony Thomas Reid Fletcher (Independent) – 78
John David Thomas (Labour) – 54
Stuart Aldridge (UK Independence Party) – 40

That BNP vote is staggering. That's over 1/3 of the Conservative vote and 3 times the Labour vote. I bet that has caused the main parties a few headaches.

The turnout was 32%. So 2/3 of the voters did not show up. The BNP probably had a high percentage of their voters show so may not present too much of a threat to the mainstream parties here. However, it is a timely warning about voter apathy

Were we meant to have received a polling card in the post?  I did not know about an election?
